It is renowned for its stunning medieval architecture, particularly the abbey that crowns its rocky pinnacle. The island is connected to the mainland by a causeway, which is submerged during high tide, creating a sense of isolation and mystique. Mont Saint-Michel has a rich history dating back to the 8th century when it was established as a monastery. Over the centuries, it evolved into a major pilgrimage site and a formidable fortress. Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most visited landmarks in France, attracting millions of tourists each year. Its picturesque silhouette against the backdrop of the sea and surrounding salt marshes makes it a truly breathtaking sight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
