Get there in (<strong>~28 min<\/strong>) from the <strong>Inria Centre<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The buses <i class=\"fas fa-bus\"><\/i> <strong>C4 <\/strong>(towards <strong>Grand Quartier<\/strong>) and <strong>C6<\/strong> (towards <strong>Aeroport)<\/strong> at <strong>Tournebride<\/strong> (~7 min <i class=\"fas fa-person-walking\"><\/i> from Inria), will take you to the <strong>Mus\u00e9e Beaux Arts<\/strong> stop (~10 min). It is renowned for its stunning medieval architecture, particularly the abbey that crowns its rocky pinnacle. The island is connected to the mainland by a causeway, which is submerged during high tide, creating a sense of isolation and mystique. Mont Saint-Michel has a rich history dating back to the 8th century when it was established as a monastery. Over the centuries, it evolved into a major pilgrimage site and a formidable fortress. Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most visited landmarks in France, attracting millions of tourists each year. The restaurant is located in Le Rheu, 3 km west of Rennes. Private buses will take the participants to the castle, after the social activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A little bit of history: <\/strong>The seigneury of Apign\u00e9 belonged to the Apign\u00e9 family 1050. Its lords founded a priory in 1268 on the right bank of the Vilaine and gave it to the Abbey of St Melaine in Rennes. The current ch\u00e2teau was built from 1833 onwards by the Nov\u00e9-Josserand family, who owned a brickworks on the Apign\u00e9 moors. Like many buildings of this type, the Ch\u00e2teau was occupied during the Second World War by the Germans, the militia and the Resistance. In the 1960s, the Ch\u00e2teau was divided into flats, and in 1985 the Rennes Lorient expressway cut through a large part of the grounds.
