1st IEEE International On-Line Testing Workshop

The 1st IEEE International On-Line Testing Workshop was hold on 4 - 6 July 1995 in Nice, France.

76 participants from 16 countries have attended and participated actively in the workshop.

For the final program 43 technical papers from 11 countries was selected and presented in the frame of 9 sessions, namely:

- Self-Checking and Fail-Safe Designs;

- System Level On-Line Testing;

- On-Line Testing in Space Applications;

- BIST;

- Concurrent Checking;

- Checking Reliability Indicators;

- BIST/DFT;

- Mixing On-Line/Off line Testing;

- Self-Checking Checkers.

The industrial presentations, reporting advanced implementations in various domains such as space electronics, railway control and automotive critical functions, as well as the advanced developments from academia have contributed to a high quality program and created strong interactions among the participants.

A new important field of investigation, promoted by OLTTAC and included in the topics of the workshop, concerns on-line testing based on the monitoring of reliability indicators. Six selected papers of high technical interest were included in a dedicated session, establishing a new on-line testing domain.

The Open Microphone panel session aimed at giving to the participants the opportunity for presenting their viewpoints was greatly appreciated. The basic message from this panel is that the rapidly increasing needs for on-line testing in various fields, including the mass volume production, will increase the interest for Built-In/On-Line Testing.

The workshop was closed with enthusiast comments from the participants and the promise to come back for the 2nd IEEE International On-Line Testing Workshop.
